Punctuation Full Stop

Punctuation (derived from the Latin punctum, a point) means the right use of putting in Points or Stops in writing.

  • Full Stop or Period (.)
  • Comma (,)
  • Semicolon (;)
  • Colon (:)
  • Question Mark (?)
  • Exclamation Mark (!)
  • The Full Stop or Period,is the most important punctuation mark. It marks the end of an assertive or an imperative sentence.

  • My Name is Geetha. Im a teacher of Maths in Modern High School.
  • Go away.
  • The Full stop can be used in abbreviations, but they are often omitted in modern style.

  • M.A. or MA
  • M.P. or MP
  • U.N.O. or UNO
  • NOTE : In current English, Mr and Mrs occur without a full stop, as these are regarded as full spellings.
